Up Front: Winter 2013

Many charities and nonprofits experience a surge in volunteers at this time of year, as individuals make it a point to give something back during the holiday season.

For TCNJ students, service to the community is a year-round commitment.

Beginning in their first year on campus, students are required to engage in hands-on service projects that address some of society’s most pressing problems related to public health, the environment, education, homelessness, and social justice. As upperclassmen, many students continue working on these issues through more in-depth, community-based research projects.

Placing an emphasis on community-engaged learning is one of the ways The College of New Jersey fulfills its public service mandate, and prepares students to create positive change in the world.

How did you make a difference in the world this year?
