The College and its partner PRC Campus Centers, LLC, have started mobilizing for the construction of Campus Town, the mixed-use commercial and residential center that could add a wealth of amenities—including shops, eateries, and a health club—as well as student apartments to an approximately 12-acre tract alongside campus, just south of the main entrance.
Footings and foundation plans were submitted to the Department of Community Affairs for review in June, and demolition and site preparation began over the summer. That work was scheduled to be complete by the end of the summer, after this magazine went to print. Construction is expected to be complete in the spring of 2015, and the complex ready for occupancy by students in fall 2015.
Once complete, Campus Town will be a sustainable, walkable, and environmentally responsible complex that will augment and enhance the living-learning environment TCNJ provides for students. It will create approximately 278,000 square feet of housing and amenities, including approximately 195,000 square feet of living quarters with the capacity to house 446 students.
