What Others Are Saying About Your Alma Mater
Read what “U.S. News & World Report,” The Princeton Review, and “Creative Colleges” had to say about The College of New Jersey
For the 17th consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report ranked TCNJ the No. 1 public college in the northern region in the Best Universities—Master’s category. The magazine also named TCNJ to its first-ever list of “Up-and-Coming Schools” that have “made the most promising and innovative changes in academics, faculty, students, campus, or facilities.” TCNJ was one of just 70 schools nationwide—and the only one from New Jersey—to make the list.
The second edition of Creative Colleges: A Guide for Student Actors, Artists, Dancers, Musicians and Writers named TCNJ as one of the top 200 programs in the nation for creative students.
The Princeton Review’s The Best 368 Colleges ranked TCNJ as one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education in its 2009 edition, hailing TCNJ’s extraordinarily high “admissions selectivity” and “quality of life.” Of the nation’s 2,500-plus four-year colleges and universities, only about 15 percent made it into the book.
The Princeton Review publication also contains two-page profiles of each Best College, as well as survey-based ranking lists of the top 20 colleges in several specialty categories. In the latter category, TCNJ was noted for having the fourth-best college library in the country, behind only the libraries of Harvard College, Princeton University, and Duke University. In addition, the book ranked TCNJ’s students as the ninth happiest students nationally.
The Best 368 Colleges also includes ratings for special categories. Among these rankings is a new “Green Rating” based on a school’s environmentally related practices, policies, and course offerings. TCNJ earned a rating of 91 (out of possible high of 99) in this category.
In TCNJ’s two-page profile, The Princeton Review quoted extensively from current TCNJ students who had been surveyed for the book. One student commented that the College offers “the total package…a beautiful campus, great location, top-notch faculty, the newest technology, an interested student body, and competitive sports teams.” No wonder the students here are so happy.
