Chemistry as art
With help from a few friends, Marissa Sanders ’13 transformed this dreary basement of the Science Complex into a Quantum Tunnel. Click on the story to see the results.
As Marissa Sanders ’13 pursued her Mentored Undergraduate Summer Experience (MUSE) research in the Science Complex basement, she began to see the dull, subterranean concrete walls as a canvas for art. With help from a few friends, Sanders transformed the dreary space into a Quantum Tunnel, as she named the mural. “Quantum mechanics is a very enchanting subject matter. I believe the tunnel reflects upon the artistic potential of chemistry as a subject,” she explained. inChemistry magazine agreed, and made the Quantum Tunnel its cover story last winter.
