TCNJ officially named the diamond at the softball complex Dr. June Walker Field in front of large turnout on Homecoming. The ceremony welcomed back a large group of alumnae dating back into the 1980s as well as recent graduates up to the Class of 2012 filling the bleachers.
The field naming was made possible thanks to a $100,000 endowment to ensure Walker’s legacy will have its rightful place with Lions’ softball.
Walker was the head coach for 22 seasons, spanning from 1974 until 1995. During that time, she guided the Lions to an eye-popping 721-154 record, capturing five NCAA Division III Championships and added seven second-place finishes. In addition to coaching, Walker also served as Associate Director of Athletics at the College during her tenure.
