As the College community celebrates the completion of a structure that is sure to become a campus landmark for generations to come, the staff of TCNJ Magazine thought it would be appropriate to remember another structure that past generations likely recall fondly. Built in 1931, the 190-foot tall, red-and-white-checked water tower pictured here supplied water to several buildings for more than four decades. But after one of its pipes ruptured, and another water main was 
constructed on campus, the decision was made to dismantle the tower. It came down 35 years ago this semester—but not before receiving a farewell ceremony during Homecoming 1977.
