The segments filmed on campus were used in an episode about Eddie Waitkus, a Chicago Cubs first baseman who was shot by a crazed fan. He battled back and eventually played again for the Cubs and, later, the Phillies. Waitkus was the real-life inspiration for the 1952 book The Natural, which in turn spawned the 1984 Robert Redford movie of the same name.
