Lion’s Tale: School of Education Alumnae Mark 60th Reunion

Each year for the past six decades, the alumnae pictured here have gathered to reconnect, share stories about their lives and families, and relive the fun they had as students in the late 1940s. Most of these mini reunions have taken place at one the alumna’s homes, but the group’s most recent get-together, timed to coincide with Reunion Weekend in May, took place on campus. “TCNJ…was a beautiful, spacious wooded wonderland when we arrived” as students, Ruth Ruempler Blythe ’49 said afterward. “We were amazed as we drove around campus how this college has grown and prospered. We needed [a] map to find our familiar places.” Most of the alumnae, all of whom are former teachers, still live in New Jersey, but Madeline Schneider Boswell ’49 drove all the way from North Carolina so as to not miss this year’s 60th reunion. “We are all proud to be alumnae of this very popular and selective college here in New Jersey,” Ruth said. “Over the years we have lost two of our classmates, and some of us have lost husbands, but we are fortunate to be in good health.” She said plans are already under way for the group’s 61st reunion, which will take place next spring at the home of Camille Marti McNally ’49. “God willing, we all hope to be there,” Ruth said.
