Milestone win
On September 10, Sharon (Goldbrenner) Pfluger ’82 (far right in photo above) notched her 500th win as a head field hockey coach. She is just the second Division III coach from any sport to reach that mark. Pfluger also has 418 victories as head lacrosse coach.
Breaking ground

Governor Chris Christie joined President R. Barbara Gitenstein, Student Government President Tyler Liberty ’14, and representatives from the development firm The PRC Group for a ceremonial groundbreaking for Campus Town on September 27. TCNJ is partnering with PRC on the development of Campus Town, a mixed-use commercial and residential center that will be constructed on 12 acres of property adjacent to campus. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2015.
Business dean in the news
Media outlets from across the country have been interviewing Dean of the School of Business William Keep, an expert on multi-level marketing (MLM) businesses and pyramid schemes, seeking his insight on Herbalife, an MLM that some in the investment community are calling a pyramid scheme.
NSF Grant
The National Science Foundation awarded the School of Science $600,000 to fund a program aimed at increasing the retention of economically disadvantaged students majoring in biology or chemistry, with the goal of increasing the number of students from underserved groups who seek careers in STEM disciplines.
Hot off the press
Assistant History Professor Jodi Weinstein’s book, Empire and Identity in Guizhou: Local Resistance to Qing Expansion, published by University of Washington Press, examines the Qing imperial authorities’ attempts to consolidate control over the Zhongjia, a non-Han population, in 18th-century Guizhou, a poor, remote, and environmentally harsh province in Southwest China.
