On Twitter, you’ll find complaints ranging from the seemingly legitimate—why does it cost $100 to register to graduate—to the mundane—why do you put so much garlic in the sauce, Eick chefs? (We’ll answer the first question: The fee offsets cap, gown, and diploma costs. Perhaps Big Larry can answer the second.) Unlike tweets, Yik Yak comments are only visible to fellow app users within a 1.5-mile radius. They’re also anonymous, which means we’ll never know which student shared this existential gem: “Snowmen are winter scarecrows. Mind. The trunk offers new and lightly worn brand-name clothing at prices an undergrad can afford. Students can also sell their unwanted clothes through the trendy trunk, and earn 65 percent of any sales. Anything that doesn’t sell gets donated to the charity of the consignor’s choice.

Hats on to women’s soccer standouts>

The women’s soccer team won 18 games last season, and after each victory the coaches awarded a decorated hardhat to the player they felt had made the biggest difference in the game. It’s a fun tradition that got underway a few years ago to motivate players to work a bit harder, says assistant coach katie lindacher ’14. “our motto for the hat is, ‘gotta go to work.’” it seems to be paying off: the team’s NCAA championship quarterfinals appearance last season was its best finish in years.

—Tony Marchetti, with reporting by Ashley McKenna

Yik Yak, junk in the trunk, and hardhats for the women’s soccer team highlight this issue’s “Since We Saw You Last.”

[9,76

post-9278","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-on-campus","category-winter-2015
["GET
