TCNJ officially named the diamond at the softball complex Dr. June Walker Field in front of large turnout on Homecoming. The ceremony welcomed back a large group of alumnae dating back into the 1980s as well as recent graduates up to the Class of 2012 filling the bleachers.<\/p>\n
The field naming was made possible thanks to a $100,000 endowment to ensure Walker’s legacy will have its rightful place with Lions’ softball.<\/p>\n
Walker was the head coach for 22 seasons, spanning from 1974 until 1995. During that time, she guided the Lions to an eye-popping 721-154 record, capturing five NCAA Division III Championships and added seven second-place finishes. In addition to coaching, Walker also served as Associate Director of Athletics at the College during her tenure.<\/p>\n
