{"id":4636,"date":"2011-10-31T09:02:33","date_gmt":"2011-10-31T16:02:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tcnjmagazine.com\/?p=4636"},"modified":"2014-01-25T18:10:24","modified_gmt":"2014-01-25T23:10:24","slug":"eickhoff-dining-hall-makeover-wins-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tcnjmagazine.com\/?p=4636","title":{"rendered":"Eickhoff dining hall makeover wins award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4637\" title=\"Food-Management_001_Page_11-231x300\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tcnjmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Food-Management_001_Page_11-231x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" \/>Penton Media\u2019s <em>Food Management<\/em> magazine, an industry magazine written for food-service directors, managers and chefs, has named The Atrium at Eickhoff, The College of New Jersey\u2019s main dining facility, the \u201cBest Renovation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The winners of Food Management\u2019s 2011 \u201cBest Concept\u201d awards competition\u2014which pitted the College\u2019s dining hall against 150 other entrants from colleges, universities, hospitals, and business accounts\u2014was  honored at a ceremony in Dallas at the annual IDEAS Conference in September.<\/p>\n<p>According to the magazine, The Atrium at Eickhoff\u2019s renovation is the product of a $5.8 million two-phase project, updating a 1992 traditional tray-line service cafeteria to better serve modern students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEickhoff has increased transactions by 29 percent and sales nearly 22 percent (over $1 million) since the opening of the new facility,\u201d the magazine\u2019s editors noted. \u201cThe facility has enhanced consumer engagement from the students, faculty and staff on campus and has been instrumental in boosting voluntary meal plan purchases by over 17 percent. The renovation was recognized for its spectacular colorful design and its selection of vibrant serving stations\u2014a transformation engaging all senses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The renovation included several new stations, including an Asian wok station featuring a 90 inch Mongolian grill at \u201c91.3 Wok\u201d (named after the College\u2019s radio station WTSR), \u201cCeva\u201d (named after the College\u2019s Lake Ceva) wood-stone oven pizza and pasta, and \u201cRoscoe\u2019s Tacos and More.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This past summer, The Atrium at Eickhoff received national recognition with a feature in <em>Nation\u2019s Restaurant News<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The Student Government offered congratulations and appreciation to <strong>Karen Roth \u201980<\/strong>, director of TCNJ Dining Services, and <strong>John Higgins<\/strong>, general manager of dining for Sodexo at its Sept. 14 meeting.
