Adkins \u201939<\/strong><br \/>\nAdkins was a nine-time letter winner in three sports: football, basketball, and baseball. He played under legendary coaches Earl Dean and Bill Andreas, and served as the men\u2019s basketball team captain during his senior year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gary Hindley \u201969, \u201970<\/strong><br \/>\nCoach Hindley\u2019s soccer teams compiled a 76-52-18 record over eight seasons, making six trips to the postseason, including a 1974 trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament. His baseball teams compiled a 134-123-4 record. His 1979 and 1981 teams went to the NCAA Division III Tournament; the 1981 squad captured the NJSAC Championship along the way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kimberly Faust Petke \u201997<\/strong><br \/>\nAs a member of the 1993 and 1994 national champion women\u2019s soccer teams, Faust was a standout at both ends of the field for the Lions. She helped the team rank among the best in the country in goals-against and finished with 71 career points on 25 goals and 21 assists. That last stat still stands as seventh best in program history. In 1994, she was named NSCA\u2008Division III National Player of the Year and became the program\u2019s first three-time All-American.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gary Tantleff \u201987<\/strong><br \/>\nA three-year letter-winner for the men\u2019s soccer team, Tantleff was known by his teammates as the \u201cSpider.\u201d During his collegiate career, he picked up 35 shutouts in 59 starts, recorded 273 saves with a 0.59 career goals-against-per-game average, and earned three All-American citations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tom Till \u201995<\/strong><br \/>\nTill excelled for the men\u2019s swim team from 1991\u201394, and was the program\u2019s first student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships each of his four seasons. He was an eight-time All-American and held 10 team records\u2014five individual and five as a member of a relay team\u2014during his TSC days.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div class=\"imageframe centered\" style=\"width:400px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment wp-att-348\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tcnjmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/lions-roar-hall-of-fame.jpg\" alt=\"hall of fame 2008\" width=\"400\" height=\"301\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"imagecaption\">Gary Tantleff \u201987; Tom Till \u201995; Kimberly Faust Petke \u201997; Gary Hindley \u201969, \u201970; Ray and John Adkins, grandsons of Ray Adkins \u201939; and John Castaldo &#8217;82, \u201983<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Teams of Distinction<\/span><br \/>\n<strong>1974\u201375 Men\u2019s Swimming <\/strong><br \/>\nThe men\u2019s swimming team in 1974\u201375 produced a mark of 8-5 in dual meet competition and set 11 of 13 records in the water over the course of its season. TSC\u2019s finish on the year marked the first winning season in six years and saw the squad finish in fourth place in the New Jersey Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships and second in the New Jersey State Conference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1983 Softball Team<\/strong><br \/>\nThe 1983 squad was the first Lions softball team to win an NCAA national title. The team was dominant on the field that season, boasting a 19-game winning streak at one point and finishing the season with a 41-7 record\u2014with 22 of those victories coming by shutout. At the time, the 41 wins were a school record.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1993 Women\u2019s Soccer<\/strong><br \/>\nJust four years after the program came into existence, the 1993 women\u2019s soccer team captured the national championship, cruising through the regular season with a 16-1-2 record and going 4-0-1 in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Lions\u2019 20-1-3 combined record marked the first time the program had hit the 20-win plateau. Only five teams since have matched that win total.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In May, the newest class joined the Athletic Hall of Fame in conjunction with Reunion Weekend festivities.
