TCNJ Captures 10th CAANJ Directors’ Cup
TCNJ’s athletic department was named the 2007-08 recipient of the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey (CAANJ) Directors’ Cup for Division III. This award is bestowed annually to the top collegiate athletic departments at the different NCAA levels.

With this latest CAANJ Cup, TCNJ’s athletic department has now won 10 of 11 titles as the top Division III collegiate athletic department in the state.
During the 2007-2008 academic year, the Lions competed in 15 different NCAA championships and captured two NCAA Division III team semifinalist finishes, while one individual earned an NCAA national championship and another captured a runner-up title. TCNJ amassed 163 All-NJAC honors, while collecting 10 NJAC championship team titles and three Metropolitan Conference Championships. TCNJ had 29 student-athletes combine to earn 59 All-America citations as well. Over the course of the year, TCNJ compiled 210 wins, 97 losses and four ties for a .682 win percentage.
Over the past 13 years, TCNJ has finished in the Top 10 in each of the USSA Directors’ Cup races. The Lions are coming off an impressive third place showing during the 2007-08 academic year after collecting a record 825.25 points in the race for the cup. In 1995–96, TCNJ took fourth place and finished in second place in 1996–97. The Lions finished in second place again in 1997–98. All told, TCNJ has finished in the Top Ten 13 consecutive years.

Stephanie Herrick, 2008 NJAC Most Outstanding Female Athlete, 2008 USTFCCA National Division III Runner of the Year. Was a two-time All-American placing seventh in both the 800 meters and the one-mile run.
Junior Kristen Tricocci earned All-American honors placing fourth in the long jump.
Distance medley relay team also qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships as did junior Martine McGrath in the 5,000 meters.
