Danica Roskos ’13 wrote her name in TCNJ’s record books in March, when she became the first Lion athlete to win multiple national titles at a single National Championship event.
Roskos placed first in the nation in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at the 2011 Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, where she was also named Diver of the Meet. In capturing the 1-meter crown, the sophomore posted an NCAA record score of 515.90 points.
“I was able to do better than I had expected because of my coaches, Candace Gottlieb and Jen Harnett ’93, and my teammates, Sabrina Lucchesi ’14 and [men’s diver] TJ Burns ’12,” Roskos said afterward. “Having the team take fifth place and winning both [titles] shows that TCNJ is one of the top Division III swimming and diving programs in the country.”
Roskos is the second diver in Lions program history to win a national title. The first, Diane Maiese ’98, won the 1-meter title in 1997.
