Women’s Basketball Team Headed to Final Four
The women’s basketball team will be making the program’s first trip to the Final Four after an exciting win this past weekend.
The women’s basketball team it heading to the Final Four for the first time in program history after beating the University of Scranton by the score of 54-48 on Saturday, March 13, in Rochester, NY. The Lions will face undefeated and second-ranked George Fox (30-0). That game is set for Friday, March 20, at Hope College in Holland, MI. Saturday’s win extended TCNJ’s winning streak to 13 straight games, and the Lions have been on a tear since early December, winning 24 of the last 25 games. The team is now 27-4 on the season.
The path to the Final Four was not an easy one for the Lions. The team has had to defeat four ranked opponents along the way, with the 15th-ranked Royals being the latest.
Karen Lassoni ’09 came up big in Saturday’s contest, scoring the Lions’ final five points and adding a key rebound and steal in the final seconds to keep TCNJ’s season alive. Hillary Klimowicz ’09 led the Lions with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
