TCNJ students looking for something new and exciting to do with their lunchtimes haven’t had to travel farther than the Student Center. For the second year in a row, the College Union Board (CUB) has been sponsoring a series of free events that it’s calling “CUB Nooners.” The goal, said CUB Executive Director Katerina Gkionis ’09, has been to “spice things up” in the Student Center.

“It can get a little bland in there during the day,” she explained.

The bi-monthly programs—paid for by the Student Activities Fund that each student contributes to—have offered something for nearly everyone. This past semester’s Nooner events included a fortune teller; a mariachi band; Snakes Alive!, which allowed students to get up close and personal with an array of reptiles; a “Butt Sketch Artist”; and an East meets West event that featured belly dancers and henna tattoos.

In the works for this coming semester are a Birthday Nooner and a Chinese New Year Nooner, Gkionis said.
