Veldon Harris ’90 was sworn in as Captain of County Detectives for the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office earlier this month, becoming the first African American to ever hold the position in the county. “It is truly an honor,” Harris said of his historic appointment, which is only the latest achievement in career that spans 19 years with the prosecutor’s office.

Harpist Kristy L. Chmura ’03, cellist Ardith Collins ’01, and drummer Josh Bicknell ’03 formed double-breasted while students at TCNJ. While they describe their brand of music as “couture rock,” the band feels at home playing some of the state’s legendarily gritty rock clubs. With a new CD out and a growing fan base, things are looking up for this trio.

As a linebacker on TCNJ’s football team, it was Terence Nish’s job to run into the middle of the action and use his strength to make a difference in the game. On Oct. 21, the Class of 2006 grad raced into action at the scene of a police car crash and made a difference—a life-saving difference.

A Survivor’s Story

Angela WiggsFourteen years ago, Angela Wiggs ’94 graduated from the journalism program with honors and a minor in communications. The plan was for her to write the stories, not be the story. That all changed on October 16, 2000, when the former Princeton Packet reporter was brutally attacked and nearly killed by her husband. An arterial specialist who treated her that night told her father that he did not have minutes to save her life—he had only seconds. The outlook was grim, but, after 32 days, Angela awoke. She has been battling back ever since.

Philanthropy News: Thanks to the class agent volunteers

At the time, her five-volume set of children’s books, The Spiderwick Chronicles, had just been optioned for filming.
